Pyramid Secrets Revealed Inside the Great Scar

Even though it stands proudly at a height of 200 feet, the Pyramid of Menkaure is the smallest of the three major pyramids on the Giza Plateau.

Primarily made of limestone, but part-cased and part-lined with pink Aswan granite, although small in comparison to its neighbours, this pyramid is far from insignificant.

King Menkaure was the son of Khafre, is believed to be the man responsible for this pyramid’s construction, sometime in the 26th century BC. But today the pyramid is a ruin, and we see this huge gash on its northern face, as iconic a sight as the pyramid itself.

But why is it there and who is responsible for this damage, and what can it actually tell us about the construction methods employed by the Old Kingdom pyramid builders? In this video, we’ll find out.
