Brought about as an effort to mitigate drunk driving, these new passive detection systems will, inevitably malfunction, voiding the use of something that up till now has been governed by personal choice.
In a world where government mandates are consistently reducing freedoms, even when the argument for safety is understandable, we have to be cautious about what these large companies choose to do... and when a rule like this has been lobbied for aggressively by major insurance companies, I find myself skeptical about its supposedly altruistic roots.
