Meta has open-sourced a complete perception system SAM 3 and SAM 3D, that bridges Visual Intelligence and Spatial Intelligence, while tackling the long-standing 3D training data problem in AI.

SAM 3 is a unified vision model for detection, segmentation, and tracking across media, using text prompts to find any concept, even rare ones, from its massive ontology.

SAM 3D adds 3D spatial understanding, enabling high-quality 3D object reconstruction from a single 2D image. This breakthrough is set to drive major advancements in robotics, augmented reality, and visual effects.
