Tomorrow's World | Satellite Navigation for Cars of the Future (1986)

It may not look futuristic, but this is a highly intelligent car.

Tomorrow's World presenters Judith Hann and Peter Macann look at a concept car that aims to predict the kind of vehicles we might well be driving in the 21st Century. One of the most interesting features of the car is a large navigation panel that will offer drivers assistance using satellite navigation.

How feasible is in-car navigation in 1986? Maggie Philbin visits the Transport and Road Research Facility in Crowthorne to test out two of the latest prototype in-car navigation systems.

How do they work and how long before we can expect to see them in production vehicles?
