IBM Color Selectric Typewriter Film. In 1961, the IBM Selectric revolutionized the office world with its speed and efficiency.
It printed using an interchangeable rotating “golf ball” typing element. This vintage IBM color film from the 1960’s shows tips and techniques for creating professional typing results. The Selectric 1 and other IBM models are shown.
The Selectric 1 was introduced in 1961 and sold millions by 1971, when the Selectric II was released. By 1986, the total number of Selectrics sold was over 13 million. It was one of the most successful office products of all time, leading into the world of Word Processing systems.
