Search for Chambers: Chichén Itzá Pyramid to be Muon Scanned

In the past decade, the scientific practice of muography, a non-invasive imaging technique, has revealed previously unknown voids in the Great Pyramid of Egypt.

First, in 2016 was the small void behind the chevrons on the north face of the pyramid, and then in 2017 we saw the announcement of the Big Void above the Grand Gallery.

And now, as announced to the media this week, an international research team is preparing to use muon technology to peer inside one of the Maya civilisation’s most iconic structures, the famous El Castillo Pyramid at Chichen Itza, Mexico.

Watch this video to find out what's planned, what we already know about the Pyramid Temple of Kukulcan in Mexico, and exactly how muography works.
