Lady Lay is a single by singer Pierre Groscolas, of Algerian descent, but already living in Toulouse at the time. It is taken from his second album, Lady Lay-Élise.
Lady Lay is his only successful single in both the Netherlands and Belgium (although the Dutch Top 40 did chart the single Elise in the lower regions).
The song, about a childhood sweetheart when he was 15, was also particularly popular in South America. Lady Lay was recorded at the CBE Studio
