Logically Answered | Why is Google Search So Bad Now?

Google search used to be clean. Now you type something in and get a wall of ads, giant cards, and an AI summary no one asked for.

The AI overview eats the top third of the screen and often gives answers that are useless or straight up wrong. It pulls random lines from Reddit and spits them out with total confidence, which is how we got stuff like “drink two quarts of urine for kidney stones.” This isn’t just annoying. It’s wrecking entire businesses.

When the AI summary shows up, traffic to real sites drops by thirty five percent or more because people read the snippet and never click. Big publishers are losing millions. Chegg watched its traffic collapse and blamed Google. Groups behind Rolling Stone and Variety are suing for the same reason. Google is panicking about ChatGPT, so they forced AI into search even though the whole thing feels slower and less useful.

The irony is that people are now switching to Bing or DuckDuckGo just to escape the clutter. A company built on clean results is now the one burying them.
