A helicopter crashed near Huntington Beach this week right in front of beachgoers heading to the Cars ’N Copters event.
The video shows the aircraft spiraling out of control before slamming into palm trees and a stairway beside a hotel. Five people were injured including two on board and three pedestrians, one of them a child.
In today’s breakdown, Captain Steeeve analyzes what we can learn from this accident: how tail-rotor failures happen, what pilots can do in those final seconds, and why bystander safety matters more than ever during public flight demos.
Thoughts and prayers are with everyone recovering, and to all pilots:
May we keep flying safer, smarter, and with respect for the power of the machines we fly.
