Today Android runs on more than three billion devices. Around seventy per cent of every smartphone on Earth. But this isn’t a video about how Android won the market.

There are a hundred of those already. What I want to talk about is something quieter that happened on the developer side.


What it actually felt like to build software on this thing. From the Eclipse plugin era to fighting Gradle at midnight, from XML layouts to Compose, from a fragmented mess of vendor skins to AI agents writing your code for you.
